Automatic load-haul-dump machine control system (LHD ACS)

The main purposes of developing LHD ACS are the improvement of mining operations safety by removing the key personnel onto the surface from working areas with harmful and hazardous operating conditions while setting up safe and comfortable working environment, and the improvement of operational LHD efficiency, which includes the following:

increased productivity;
reduced operational costs;
minimized emergency downtime;
extended service life of individual components and assemblies and the equipment in general.

LHD ACS implements the following functions:

Automatic, semiautomatic and remote LHD control from the remote operator’s workstation
Continuous monitoring of equipment status parameters
Transmission, processing, storage and display of operational data at the operator’s workstation
Visual monitoring and control of several different machines at the same time
Operational switching between LHDs for manual implementation of operations

System infrastructure

Automation center: workstation of the remote LHD control operator
Onboard equipment kits for implementing remote LHD control and monitoring functions
Route safety equipment for barrier system control and LHD recording in block sections
Traffic control equipment for dividing the working zone into controlled and uncontrolled block sections with the purpose of organizing safe LHD traffic
Data transmission channel equipment for providing wireless communication with LHDs throughout the entire working zone of the mine
